Proverbs Chapter 24
We just passed the two-year anniversary of our house fire. Over those past 24 months we've had to do a LOT of things to get the house back into shape. Verses three and four reminder us that the most important construction material is wisdom. And, as we've learned throughout the Proverbs, wisdom is synonymous with "Knowing - and doing - what God designed us to do." The book of Proverbs serves as a great blueprint.
By wisdom a house is built,
and through understanding it is established;
through knowledge its rooms are filled
with rare and beautiful treasures.
Please leave your comments on this chapter.
Thanks,
Pastor David

Verse 13: "My son, eat honey, for it its good, and the drippings of the honeycomb are sweet to your taste."
ReplyDeleteMy Lutheran Study Bible says that this is not dietary advice but merely setting up the next verse--read it and see what you think!
Given the fact that I am a beekeeper it is not surprising that I take exception to this view.
Honey is mentioned 61 times in the bible and was 50% of John the Baptist's diet. Also, the Israelites were promised by God a land overflowing with milk and _ _ _ _ _?
Also, honey has potent antiviral and antibacterial properties and it does not surprise me that the Creator made it one of the predominant sweets available to man.
